Your Candle Memo
a simple guide to caring for your kimochii candle…
A few thoughtful notes to guide your candle experience
1. Make Room for the Moment
- Set your space in a way that feels welcoming to the moment you want to create, whether it is quiet, joyful or somewhere in between.
- Choose a stable, heat-safe surface and keep the candle away from children, pets and anything that can catch fire.
- If your table needs support, place the candle on its lid to give it a secure base.
- Make sure nearby materials, such as fabric, paper, or wood, are at a comfortable distance. When the surroundings feel clear and ready, the candle has room to be lit and enjoyed.
2. Preparing the Wick
- Give the wick a small trim before each burn so it sits at a neat one-quarter inch. This height keeps the flame steady and supports a more even burn.
- Clear away any loose pieces around the wick so it begins on an even base.
- A simple adjustment like this helps the candle light cleanly and settle into the moment you are creating.
3. Embracing the Light
- Use a match to light the wick and let the flame begin at its own pace. This is the start of the moment ahead.
- Before you continue, allow the flame a moment to stabilise.
4. As the Candle Breathes
- Once the wax is warm enough, the scent begins to unwrap and reveal its layers. Let the candle stay lit long enough for these notes to settle into the room.
- You can keep it burning for up to four hours at a time. This gives the fragrance the space to express itself without overwhelming the moment.
5. Bringing the Moment to a Pause
- Use a snuffer to extinguish the flame, keeping the air undisturbed and the wax evenly distributed. Avoid blowing it out, as it can disrupt the surface and carry smoke into the room.
- Once the light dims, give the candle a moment to cool before moving it or preparing it for its subsequent use.
6. Wrapping Up
Once the candle has cooled, check the wick and remove any loose ash that may have gathered. Allow fresh air to meet the fragrance lingering in the room as you return to the world beyond this moment.
When everything feels settled, place the lid back on or store the candle somewhere safe until you reach for it next.
Parting Note,
Before you move into the moment ahead, here is what you need to know:
When only half an inch of wax remains, let the candle go and clean the vessel for its next use. It’s a simple way to close the ritual with care.
And even though parting seems difficult, you can continue the experience with our refillable tin jars or explore another mood.
